Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge Day 15 (#4 at Gaia Yoga Gardens)

March 9, 2017 Posted by brunotreves Fruitarian

I am writing this fruitarian blog after 10 p.m., hopefully it will be short and sweet.

Why the Ideal Fruitarian Diet Doesn’t Include Any Nuts

The focus of today wasn’t on my Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge but I still learned much about fruitarianism. One thing that is absolutely clear to me now is that nuts, including coconuts are not, and should not, be part of the fruitarian diet, or any human diet for that matter. In a NUT-shell, they are hard to harvest, and/or hard to open, and/or hard to digest. I just don’t understand why I would go through the trouble of harvesting, opening and digesting any nut when I can much easily collect, open and digest fruit.

Coconuts, for example, are almost impossible to collect, in their young, fresh state, for pretty much every human, unless they know how to, and dare to, climb a coconut tree without any equipment. Even those who can free climb a coconut tree are still in need of a hand saw to cut the coconut bunches and, often, a rope and a partner to lower the coconuts to the ground without cracking them.

I agree that coconuts are delicious and very filling, but this is far too much work that barely any of us is willing to do. On top of that, once the coconuts are on the ground, we still need to open them, which requires, at least, a machete, and often other tools as well. I much rather grab an orange or a banana straight from the tree, especially because I know that I can eat as many oranges and bananas as I want without any digestive drawbacks.

More on the Irrationality of Nut Consumption

Macadamia nuts are also a pain in the butt. Harvesting isn’t so hard, but opening them requires a special tool. They also don’t digest well at all, try eating a few handfuls of macadamia nuts and notice what happens to your digestion, your mood and even your sinuses.

I am giving you these examples because they are both widely available and free at Gaia Yoga Gardens. I have been experimenting with them for the past four days and, despite how much I love them / I am slightly addicted to them, I don’t think I will be eating much of them anymore, ore any at all.

Three Stars for My Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge

I am wrapping this up because I am running out of battery. I lost a star for eating all those nuts and lost another one because I only walked for an hour. I did work for 8 hours collecting coconuts and building a new home at Gaia Yoga Gardens. It was a physically demanding day but it only included an our of proper exercise. Everything else went well, so I am happy with my three stars.
