Today was a slow day for the Fruitarian Bodybuilder. I woke up at 6:40 a.m., 10 minutes late to teach my yoga class. I rushed to the Kanekiki community room but when I got there the space was empty. I pulled out a yoga mat and did some stretching on my own, then headed downstairs for our morning meeting.
My First Experience Harvesting the Back of the Kanekiki Farm
The choice I made today was to harvest the back side of the farm. It was one of the jobs I had not done yet and there was many parts of the farm that I hadn’t seen yet.
I got paired up with Destiny and Matt and after getting two wheel barrels, some bags and some machetes we headed off towards the back.
The first thing we collected were oranges from a tree that had more than we could catch. Even with the picker it was hard to reach them all. We will have to return when it is dryer outside and climb up the tree to get the rest.
From there we walked to other parts of the farm collecting bananas, avocados and a mystery fruit that looked and tasted like a mixture of orange and mango. It was actually quite delicious, I look forward to getting more.

Moving, Somewhere Under the Rainbow
As we walked near the edge of the property we passed by the area where the Rainbow Hut is located. I had heard about this hut before and knew that it is currently empty. I wanted to check it out to decide if I want to move in.
The hut is right on the edge of the property, next to the neighbor’s green house. It is actually pretty far from the Kanekiki kitchen and community room but not too far to walk a couple of times a day. The decoration is pretty nice and the space feels great. It even has a desk and chair.
I ended up telling Barb that I want to move there. I am feeling the need for more personal space and the Rainbow Hut would be perfect. It would allow me to sleep better, get more work done, film some videos and practice yoga daily. It also has a nice porch to sit on and the view is simple but nice. It is likely I will be able to stay there on my own for a week or two and maybe more if I am lucky.

Progressing with My Fruitarian Book
Monday meeting went by pretty fast. We talked about some issues we have been having with the community phone, the kitchen sink and things like that. We also talked about going camping this weekend. At first I felt like going with the group but decided to stay instead at Kanekiki. I rather get more work done on my fruitarian book, videos and website.
During the afternoon most of the crew went to town and I stayed in the community room working on my fruitarian book. I am super excited about it, I already have 15 pages of text. My goal is to get to 30 by the end of the week. =D
So far it has been pretty easy to write, all I am doing is sharing my opinion and the knowledge I have gained about the fruitarian diet and other diets I have tried such as raw veganism, cooked veganism and vegetarianism. I think that I am bringing lots of new ideas to the public and a fresh perspective that is also thoughtful and fairly laid back. I hope I don’t come off too strong.
Lunch, Snacks and a Lame Salad
My lunch consisted of a bunch of citrus and my afternoon snack was a massive smoothie of bananas and spirulina. I saw Matt preparing this at Kanekiki a few days ago and so far I’ve have made it three times. It is quite comforting and certainly tastier than bananas alone.
The smoothie filled me up pretty good but before 5 p.m. I got tempted to make a salad. I ended up adding zucchini, cucumber, tomato, garlic avocado and a bunch of fresh herbs from the garden. To be honest, it didn’t taste so good.
My New Fruitarian Meal Plan and Intention
Yesterday was my two week mark eating 100% raw vegan. It hasn’t been hard at all. The third day I was in Hawaii I got tempted to eat a bunch of cooked food and it made me feel pretty bad, after that I swore to eat only raw and I am haven’t had a bad day since.
In the meantime, however, I have struggled with eating too much and eating too much fat. So I have decided to cut down on the amount of quantity of food and fat that I have in each meal and throughout the day.
I am also planning on cutting down my vegetable intake and sticking to the fruits alone, they clearly make me feel the best of all. Intermittent fasting is also going to be part of my new fruitarian meal plan. My current strategy is to only eat between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. although I may have some coconut water or orange juice around 9 a.m. if I think that is a need.
On top of all that I plan on keeping my meals fairly simple and mix as few ingredients as possible. I will, however, keep one day a week open to eat however I want, as long as it includes raw vegan ingredients (and maybe nori sheets).
All of this may sound extremely restrictive but it actually feels quite natural for me. I not only believe this is the right way to go but I also feel that my body is asking for it.
Lately I have been feeling that my need for food is less and that I actually have more energy when I eat less. I simply can’t eat as much as I used to. It may be that my stomach is shrinking, or may my body is becoming more efficient at digesting and storing food. I don’t know, but we will surely find out.
Meeting with Love Masters
Our evening was pretty nice, despite the fact that my salad was somewhat depressing. I got to run our “Meeting of the Masters” once again and three people showed up. We made a total of 4 people including me. I was a little disappointed with the small turnout but we ended up having a great time. I got to connect with Jo and have some nice conversations with Jake and Ray.
The last game we played is called “Shower of Love”. We basically took turns placing each person on the spotlight and went around the circle saying all the things we love about them. It was a very sweet experiment. It was amazing to hear all the things we are loved for, I wish we could play that game more often.
Now I am laying on a couch in the community room. I plan on going to bed early tonight. That way I can wake up early tomorrow and teach my yoga class or at least have some time to stretch and breathe on my own.
I am sure tomorrow will be an awesome day at Kanekiki, I just have a really good feeling about it.
Goodbye for now,
