Tomorrow I will be starting my Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge. This, of course, is a similar challenge to the one I have been on for the past six months. The goal has always been the same: To build an impressive physique by eating a fruitarian diet. In other words, to get big and get lean while eating fruit and nothing else.
Since I began this path, I’ve had multiple successes. I have been able to eat a raw vegan diet for more than two months (and counting) and I also have been able to eat fruit alone, and love it, for more than two weeks. I have also proven to myself that fruit can give me enough energy to exercise regularly. However, I have failed to eat only fruit and exercise consistently, thus failing to get the results I desire.
My Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge
The mixture of both successes and failures have lead me to develop the “Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge”.
For the next whole month, I intend to follow a legitimate fruitarian diet plan that will include large quantities of fruit. However, I do not plan on counting calories or portion sizes, the only rule is to eat fruit and nothing else, no nuts or seeds, no vegetables at all, no condiments either, just fruit and maybe some water. What counts as fruit? Basically, anything that contains seeds.
I will pair up this fruitarian diet with a semi-rigorous exercise routine. This routine will include two daily hours of exercise. The exercise allowed in the routine can be almost anything, from lifting weights to walking. Things like yoga, qigong, running, swimming, acro-yoga, squats, pushups, pullups, biking and dancing will be valid forms of exercise. All the additional physical work I will be doing at the Kanekiki Farm will not count as exercise, regardless of how physically demanding it can be. The two hours don’t have to be done in a row but they have to be performed between the time I wake up and the time I fall asleep.
The third requirement will be to get enough hours of sleep. Since the typical recommended sleep time for adults is between 6 and 8 hours I will strive to sleep at least 8 hours every night.
The fourth requirement will be to write and post a blog summarizing every day. In each of these blogs I will share information including the fruits I ate, when and how much. I will also share how much of each exercise I did and how I felt in general with my fruitarian diet and workouts.
The fifth and final requirement will be to weight myself (if I find the scale) and take pictures of my body on a daily basis to keep records of my progress.
How Will I Succeed as a Fruitarian Bodybuilder?
Since the month of February has 28 days, I will be able to do my best on the Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge for exactly four weeks. To rate my progress in the challenge as I go along, I will give myself a score between 1 and 5 stars for each day. The first star will be received if I complete a day eating fruit and nothing else. The second star will be received if I complete a day with at least two hours of exercise. The third star will be received if I sleep at least 8 hours per night (if I wake up naturally before the 8 hour mark I will still receive a star). The fourth star will be received for completing my blog before falling asleep and the fifth star will be received if I weight myself and take at least one picture.
On March 1st I will add all the stars I received and divide them by 28 days. My goal is to finish February with a perfect average of 5 stars per day, but I will still consider this challenge a success if I finish the month with at least 4 stars per day.
The Setting: Kanekiki Farm in Hawaii
It is likely that I will perform this fruitarian bodybuilding challenge while residing at the Kanekiki Farm in Hawaii. If, for any reason, I am forced to leave the farm, I plan to continue with the challenge regardless of where I go. The Kanekiki Farm is an ideal place for this fruitarian bodybuilding challenge since I will be surrounded by our raw vegan community which includes other fruit-based adventurers. The farm also has a small weight room where I will be doing some of my training.
My Fruitarian Bodybuilding Challenge Starts Tomorrow
With all that being said, I will be going to sleep now to get much needed rest to start this fruitarian bodybuilding challenge with the right attitude. I appreciate your support, please let me know your comments and questions on the sections bellow.
Wishing you well.
