Today was a winning day for my Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge. I woke up after getting a ton of sleep and stayed in bed for a little while. Then I got up and prepared my bags to leave the Kanekiki Farm. Tomorrow will be my last day here before moving to Gaia Yoga Gardens, another raw community in Hawaii.
I spent the rest of the morning getting my things ready. I did my laundry, cleared up my food box and gathered all the things I had laying around the Kanekiki Farm. Then I decided to go on a long walk. I was hoping to get my full two hours, unfortunately, my phone ran out of battery and I ended up coming back earlier than I hoped. Yes, I know, that is a horrible excuse. I still have 50 more minutes of exercise to do to earn my star.
When I got back to the Kanekiki Farm, I noticed there was a lot of raw vegan community food available on the table. Fridays are the days when we all eat after work. Sadly, I got tempted to eat some lettuce wraps made with chard and onions. It is clear now more than ever, I HATE raw onions. I would have been ok with eating some chard, but the onions really threw me off, I still feel the after taste in my mouth. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Never again.
Am I Really a Fruitarian Bodybuilder?
Part of me is starting to become worried that those who have been following this fruitarian blog, or those who are coming to it for the first time, will be disappointed to see that, as of right now, I am only being 99% of a fruitarian, and about 50% of a bodybuilder…. Oh wow, I guess when I look at it like that it doesn’t even sound so bad.
The truth is that over the past 6 months I have eaten mostly fruit (almost) every day. I have certainly improved each month, to the point that now I only eat 10 to 100 calories of non-fruit every other day or so. I really think that if I consider all the calories I consumed over the past two months, less than 1% have come from non-fruitarian foods. I should be proud of myself, and in part I am, but my standards are the highest, even though my dedication may be a bit lower than that.
In terms of bodybuilding, the story is somewhat the same. Surely enough, I haven’t been a 100% fruitarian bodybuilder since I started this website, at least not the type of bodybuilder I strive to be. My goal is to be huge, have large and lean muscles, be athletic, a masterpiece of human perfection. =P
However, I look at myself in the mirror and see a skinny dude, with a little bit of belly fat and almost non-visible muscle definition. Sometimes I feel discourage, but being completely fair, according to this website’s definitions, I AM a fruitarian bodybuilder. My diet consists of mostly fruit, and I engages in activities to control and develop my musculature and physical abilities. I may not do it daily, I may not do it intensely, but I do it nonetheless. Wow, what a relief, I feel much better now.
Continuing My Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge
I spent the rest of the day working on my computer and talking to a few people who are also leaving the Kanekiki Farm. A lot of us are very angry at how things are turning out, but we are doing our best to remain positive and see this place in a good light. We know that Kanekiki has been great for us in many ways and we don’t want to under value it simply because it isn’t working for us anymore.
During the afternoon I got together with Jake and Ray to eat some mamey pie and feast on some avocados. It was our last meal together as members of this raw vegan community. Starting with Friday’s sunset, Jake and I will do a 24 hour fast and on Sunday morning I will be leaving the Kanekiki Farm.
An Evening Full of Love
After our meal Jake and Ray headed back to the Rainbow hut and I went upstairs to write a Review on The Eden Fruitarian Guidebook, Mango Wodzak’s new book. I was honored to receive a copy from Mango himself a few days ago and I am loving the fruit out of it. =P
Halfway through writing my review, Bitzy walked over to me and asked if I want to go to an electronic Kirtan concert at Kalani. Of course I said yes. Within five minutes we were walking out the Kanekiki Farm, carrying nothing else than a flashlight. The full moon was high and shining on the sky. It was absolutely magical.
Twenty minutes into our walk we got picked up by a couple of young surfers who were heading over to “a secret spot” two miles from Kalani. We picked up the ride and sat on the back of the truck. Bitzy and I got to share some intimate reflections about our friendship/brotherhood and our time together at Kanekiki. He is a wonderful guy and I certainly hope to reconnect with him after I leave.
Our ride dropped us off on the beach side near Kalani, we then started to jog towards the temple but got distracted by a clearing on the side of the road where we ended up walking over the rocks to stand right next to the ocean. The moon was full and gorgeous, the sand was sparkling, the waves felt like the breath of God. It was magical.
From there we picked another ride on the back of a truck. This time we got to stand up on the back and ride the truck as if we were surfing on the road, it was super cool. By the time we got to Kalani I was feeling super pumped. The event had already started. I skipped to the entrance, gave our $20 donation, walked to the back of the room and starting to dance to the sweet, tender mantras.
At first I was the only one dancing, but as soon as the rhythm picked up a few dozen people joined me in the flow. I had a WONDERFUL time. It was seriously one of the most magical nights of my life.
Holding on to My Fruitarian Bodybuilding Athlete Challenge
I must have danced for an hour or so before getting a ride back to “four corners”. From there we walked back to the farm, which was another half hour of exercise. This, added to the hour walk I took earlier on the day makes up for more than 2 hours of exercise. Throw in this blog, the picture I took earlier and the long night sleep I had last night to pack in four full stars for today.
The fruitarian bodybuilder is back in the game! =D
