I want to write a final summary of my first fruitarian bodybuilding athlete challenge to note what went right and what went wrong. I don’t want my failure to be a reason to give up. Rather, I want this experience to teach me and others how to succeed as a fruitarian and how to thrive as a fruitarian bodybuilder.
After adding and dividing all the stars earned throughout the month I learned that during the month of February I earned 69 stars over 28 days, averaging 2.5 stars per day. This is much lower than my goal, which was 4 stars per day on average. If I eliminate the days were I completely neglected the challenge the average rises to 2.9 and if I only count the first 12 days, which were the strongest, I still fall short with 3.5 stars per day.
In total, I only had 3 days were I earned 5 stars, 5 days when I earned 4 stars and 7 days where I earned 3 stars. That means that almost half of the month recorded 2 or less stars per day. This are weak statistics but serve me as a stepping ground to build on.
What I Did Right
First I want to touch on all the things I did right with my first fruitarian bodybuilding athlete challenge. The most obvious one was starting, the next important thing was finishing. In between I had my ups and downs with some days of immense success and others full of failure. The end results weren’t so positive but I don’t feel defeated but inspired to try again.
The goal of two hours of exercise was high and that allowed me to see that it truly takes effort to be a fruitarian bodybuilder. Setting a strict rule to follow a perfect fruitarian diet was also important, otherwise I don’t feel comfortable calling myself a fruitarian bodybuilder.
The goal of sleeping was useful but not worth as much as it weighted into the rating system. Writing a blog was important but also felt too important in the scoring system. Taking the fruitarian before and after pictures was essential to show the process I went throw, they didn’t show much change but they serve as proof to show that I went through this process.
What I Did Wrong
Lack of S.M.A.R.T. goals and support system was very detrimental to the challenge. Lack of faith and emotional investment also pulled me on other directions.
The settings both at the Kanekiki Farm and at Gaia Yoga Gardens were non conducive to succeeding with this challenge. Both Kanekiki Farm and Gaia Yoga Gardens lacked an abundance of fruit and sufficient infrastructure or adequate space to practice bodybuilding, at least not in the way I was inspired to. The act of changing communities right in the middle of the challenge was quite un-grounding and detrimental, especially because there was a vast consumption of nuts, seeds and animal products at Gaia Yoga Gardens.
Setting up 2 hours as a minimum requirement was too high to strive for on days were I felt tired or drained. Writing fruitarian blogs focused on random things outside the fruitarian bodybuilding athlete challenge didn’t help with motivation.
Advice for the Next Fruitarian Bodybuilding Challenge
I am thinking about starting a new fruitarian bodybuilding challenge today. I want to give this another try, even if this is still a less than ideal set and setting. I want to show to myself and the world that we can build muscle with fruit and thrive as a fruitarian athlete and bodybuilder. Having more clarity on my workouts, more definition on my training methods and more discipline will surely help too.
I want to do a different rating system for this new fruitarian bodybuilding challenge. Instead of 5 stars I will give a total of 10. Different goals will have different values. The earning system will be the following:
1 star for recording weight
1 star for vlog for the day
1 star for taking at least one picture
1 star for recording nutritional intake
1 star for sleeping 8+ hours
3 stars for keeping a strict fruitarian diet
1 star for every our of exercising (4 max per day)
I give 3 stars to the fruitarian diet because that is the mos important change I believe needs to be made. The exercising part is also essential and it needs to be pushed on to see results. The rest of the requirements are necessary to be a well rounded fruitarian bodybuilder but they are not a requirement to see results.
Getting Back into Fruitarian Bodybuilding
I was planning on starting this new fruitarian bodybuilding challenge on March 15th but I feel pulled to do it right away. Over the past two weeks I have eat all sorts of unhealthy foods, from cooked foods to animal products. In the meantime, my health has gotten worse and other aspects of my life have suffered. Good things have happened too, but I know I rather be on the fruit diet and that is why I want to continue to push myself to do what I believe is the right thing for me to do.
