It is 10 p.m.
I just got back to The Rainbow Hut at the Kanekiki Farm. I am very tired. Today was a fairly exhausting day. I woke up pretty late, headed straight to the Kanekiki community room and worked on my fruitarian blogs.
Academic Experiences at the Kanekiki Farm
Our morning meeting was pretty long. Bill talked most of the time. He explained how to plant and grow pineapples and how to plant and grow papayas.
Right after that we all grabbed some shovels and walked as a group towards the far off end of the Kanekiki Farm. This was the first time since I arrived that we all worked together as a group on one project. It was very enjoyable.
This was also the first time Bill taught us how to work on the Kanekiki Farm as a group. It was a very educative experience. I enjoyed the class-like structure which sadly lasted no more than 15 minutes. I hope we do activates like that more often.
I planted a total of three papayas. It took as a long time because we had to clear the space, dig a whole and plant the papayas. Unfortunately, we kept running into huge lava rocks on the ground and had to move our holes again and again until we could dig one deep enough.
Towards the end of our work day I started feeling very weak and on top of that it was POURING rain.
The Fruitarian Bodybuilder has a TRUE Fruitarian Bodybuilding Day
As soon as my work shift was over I headed to the Kanekiki kitchen and drank a large glass of orange juice. Then I placed three papayas on a blender with a lot of water and brought my smoothie upstairs. I drank it slowly while working more on my fruitarian blog.
I had decided to eat little today, making sure I only eat fruit. I am proud to say that is exactly what I did.
A few hours after my papaya smoothie I went to the Kanekiki gym to do a fairly short workout. I added some new exercises and extra weight to my routine. It was my first workout in a while and I was feeling pretty weak but I am glad that at least I made it to the gym.
After that I headed upstairs to the Kanekiki community room, did a handful of minutes of yoga and drank some more orange juice while working on my fruitarian blog.
An Evening outside the Kanekiki Farm
During the evening I headed over the Butterfly Hut to visit Melanie who has been water fasting for six days. We talked about the Kanekiki Farm, Hawaii and the raw vegan community lifestyle.
My last activity of the night included a trip to the Uncle Robert’s Market. This is an event that happens every Wednesday night, not too far from the Kanekiki Farm.
We jumped on Jo’s car, all eight of us, even though it was a tiny Honda that is supposed to fit five people, and drove along some winding roads while singing (yelling) our current “Kanekiki Farm anthem song”: Land Down Under by Men at Work.
I wasn’t stoked about the Uncle Robert’s Market. It was very crowded, filled with stands selling cooked food and animal products.
I went for a walk outside the main area to find some fresh air, I couldn’t handle all the noise and smoke. I ended up at the Kava bar where I got offered marijuana by half a dozen people. I said no thanks, but still sat down on the circle to enjoy a more tranquil company.
I also bought a glass of Kava, it is the traditional local drink, to be honest, I didn’t enjoy it much. The Kava drink had a plain taste and made my tongue numb. I didn’t feel any benefit from it either, I hope my honesty doesn’t upset the locals or the Hawaiian Gods.
The best part of the night was meeting a fellow farmer who is currently working at a chocolate farm up on the hillside. He said his property is awesome, I hope to visit him one day.
As soon as I got back to the Kanekiki Farm I went straight to bed.
I hope tomorrow will be a better day.
