Welcome to my 31st day on the fruitarian diet. Today marks a whole month since I embarked on this journey into fruitarianism. For the past 31 days I have been eating a fruit based diet, with some raw vegan options and a few meals of cooked food.
The Benefits of My Fruitarian Diet
With the fruitarian diet I have experienced weight loss, improved digestion, improved skin, better sleep (considering that I now sleep on the floor), I also stop masturbating and smoking herb.
It is amazing how I have been able to minimize what I include in my diet. I have cut down my intake to mostly fruits, with some leafy greens and a handful of other vegetables. I try to get organic, local fruits but I also need to eat lots of non organic fruit because there are not many local options were I live.
I am trying to do a low fat fruitarian diet, I also cut down spices and other stimulants. I haven’t been able to eat only fruit every day but I believe that over the past month I have gotten at least 85% of my calories from fruit.
The Challenges of My Fruitarian Diet
– Challenge #1) Getting Enough Fruit
I learned to buy on bulk at the supermarket and been getting 10% off and some special deals. I would still rather get a whole sale market because they get their fruit straight from the farmers, instead of supermarkets which get their fruit from distributors. This obviously won’t be relevant when I move to Hawaii and start eating fruit straight from the land.
– Challenge #2) Storing Enough Fruit
Once I started buy fruit in bulk I realized that I needed a place to store the fruit so it wouldn’t go bad. I ended up buying a fridge, a very big one, and placed tons of fruit in there.
– Challenge #3) Eating Enough Fruit
Many times I didn’t make time to eat and I went hungry through a handful of days. This also happened when I went camping and didn’t bring enough fruit with me.
– Challenge #4) Socializing
It is hard to go to restaurants now. At first I kept going to vegan and raw vegan restaurants to “treat” myself to some meals but in time I realized that the food at the restaurants wasn’t as cheap, healthy or delicious as the fruit I was eating at home, so I eventually stopped eating out, which makes situations weird when you are with other people.
– Challenge #5) Emotional Eating
I don’t talk about it much in this video but I do struggle with emotional eating. Someone could even say that this whole fruitarian diet is all about emotional eating. However, I noticed that emotional eating of cooked food and even raw vegetables does not result in the same pains as emotional eating with fruit. When I over eat on fruit the pain is much less and I feel better quicker. This is why it is important for me to have lots of fruit around, so I can eat lots of fruit to improve my emotions, instead of cooked vegan or raw vegan foods.
– Challenge #6) Criticism
This has also been a struggle, my parents are partially supportive but we still get in arguments. My parents still eat an omnivorous diet but they are cutting down on animal products. There is also people like my trainer, my doctor and other friends in the medical field who don’t believe humans are frugivores. Some people mock me and make fun of me for being a fruitarian but that is alright. I have been mocked my whole life for different reasons. I like being different.
Going forward on the Fruitarian Diet
I would love to make friends with more fruitarians so we can all go get tons of fruit and party together.
The other thing I want to do is do more mono-meals and do fasting periods on grapes, oranges and maybe just water.
I got to say I am very grateful for all the fruitarians on Youtube who have inspired me to try the fruitarian diet. Reading books is also a good way to learn, right now I am reading Destination Eden by Mango Wodzak (http://amzn.to/2p2cWq5)
Luckily my health is still good and the health benefits of this fruitarian diet seem to be noticeable enough to encourage me to continue to explore fruitarianism.
