9:40 p.m. and back again at the Rainbow Hut on the Kanekiki farm, Hawaii, U.S.A. The fruitarian journey continues…
Clearing the Back of the Kanekiki Farm
Jake and I woke up early, did half an hour of yoga, it was our third day practicing together in a row. Then we went downstairs for our morning meeting and we all got assigned the same job: Clear out the overgrown area on the back of the Kanekiki farm.
Before we began, I got assigned a few extra tasks which involved loading wheel barrels with gravel and carrying them up the “Durian Hill” to cover large areas of full of mud. It was a very physical job but it was fun. Luckily we were able to finish it quickly.
Clearing out the back of the Kanekiki farm was also fun, especially because we were all working together as a group. I got to spend a lot of time with Jameal with whom I haven’t worked with much. He is hilarious.
We did an excellent job but there is a lot still left to do.
After working on clearing the back of the Kanekiki farm I washed my hands and had half a dozen oranges. Then I went upstairs and wrote more articles for my fruitarian blog.
Setting Records at the Kanekiki Gym
At 12 p.m. I decided to go downstairs and get a short workout. It had been a handful of days since I had been to the Kanekiki gym and I felt I was due for another fruitarian bodybuilding session.
When I got there I found three people already at the gym. It was the most people I had ever seen there, that got me motivated to workout hard. While I was there, two more people joined the gym, making us a total of six. I think we broke a record.
After 45 minutes of working out I went upstairs with the intention of doing some yoga but instead I did a light abs workout. I simply haven’t felt motivated to exercise that much. That is the plain truth.
I am sure people could argue and say that the fruitarian diet doesn’t give me enough energy to practice bodybuilding. That may be the case, or maybe I am not eating enough, or maybe I am just not super passionate about bodybuilding, or the approach I am using is not fun for me. Maybe right now I am more interested in writing and the serious fruitarian bodybuilding will come later. Maybe I am still in a period of detoxification or a period of transition, who knows… I am just telling you the facts from my experience.
Orange Feast and our Fruitarian Recipes for Dessert
After that working out I had more oranges, about a dozen or more. I honestly lost count. It seemed like I could have eaten forever but at one point I had to stop, not because I was full, but because I was bored eating. I was ready to do something else. At this point I am starting to believe there is no limit on how many oranges I can eat as long as I eat them at a slow pace.
My orange marathon took a while, about an hour or so. While I was in the kitchen the neighbors came by to invite us to some of their healing events. They are bodyworkers and group facilitators like me. They said they may even have some space for me to teach yoga classes in exchange for donations. I hope I can do that.
I got some more work done after finishing my oranges. Then I spent some time with Kim planning our fruitarian recipes for our New Years’ dessert part which will be held tomorrow at the Kanekiki farm.
We decided to do an experiment which I call the “Three Layer Nice-Cream Cake”. The base of the cake is a layer of banana “nice-cream” made with bananas and a pinch of cacao powder and vanilla powder. The second layer is a blend of dates and raisins. The top contains a thin layer of blended coconut meat.
Salad and Music for Dinner
I was thinking about eating papayas for dinner but instead I got tempted to make a salad once again. I didn’t have many ingredients left in the fridge, only carrots and sprouts which I ended up mixing with avocados. It all turned out great. It is the third night in a row that I make a simple salad recipe with four ingredients or less. It has worked out much better than my attempts to make complicated salad recipes.
After dinner Ray, Bitzy and I played music and sang some of my songs. We also played the game where we try to make up a song on the spot. We had a blast. Playing music with the Kanekiki crew is one of my favorite activities.
After a while most people went to sleep. Bitzy and I stayed up. He asked me some questions about yoga headstands which lead to a full class on the theory and history of yoga. He understood everything very well and was very excited to learn more. He even asked me to start teaching more yoga classes at the Kanekiki farm. “Perfect!”, I thought, that is one of my dreams!
I am feeling great, this fruitarian experiment is turning out to be AWESOME! =D
Time to sleep now,
Goodnight.
