Here is a review of my first two months as a fruitarian in Hawaii. I have been staying at the Kanekiki Raw Vegan Community in the big island and so far the experience has been very good.
Fruitarian in Hawaii for Two Months
One of the best experiences that I had was spending two weeks eating only papayas. It was amazing. I felt really good eating only fruit. In fact, as soon as I started eating vegetables again I felt worse. Not bad, just worse than on a fruit only diet.
Regarding my raw vegan diet / fruitarian diet, I can say that I have eaten only raw for the past two months, except for the 3rd day here when I ate some cooked soup, I felt horrible. In regards to my fruitarian diet, I consume about 90 to 95% of my calories from fruit. People say it doesn’t have enough to keep me running, but in fact, it does.
One thing that is clear is that monomeals are idea. Maybe not forever but they certainly feel good in the short run. I don’t know i fI could only eat mono meals for the rest of my life, but I can tell how mixing foods messes up my digestion.
In regards to fat, I know that avocados are yummy but they are somewhat addictive and they don’t digest nearly as well as high water content fruits.
In terms of vegetables, they also don’t digest as well, not even leafy greens. They also don’t satisfy me as much as fruit does.
I am so happy that I jumped on this raw vegan / fruitarian adventure. So far Hawaii has been great and the Kanekiki Farm is a good place to be, sure, there are some tricky parts to living in this raw vegan community.
I would like to stay here longer but it may not happen. I am already looking at other farms in Hawaii to find out what else is available.
