When it comes to losing weight on a fruitarian diet, focusing on consuming low fat, high water content fruit is crucial. Watermelons, melons, papayas, and similar fruits are excellent options, unlike avocados, bananas, dates, and dried figs, which are high in fat, sugar, and low in water content.
While avocados and dates are great fruits, they aren’t the best for weight loss on a fruitarian diet. Avocados are high-fat fruits that take longer to break down due to their high-fat content, while dates are heavily packed with sugar and contain less water, making them tricky to use. They can spike insulin levels and dehydrate the body, and when consumed in excess, they could turn to fat.
On the other hand, high water content fruits are easy to digest and process, making them ideal for weight loss on any diet, especially a fruitarian one. Eating lots of high water content fruit throughout the day is a sure way to lose weight.
Developing a fruitarian meal plan for weight loss can be challenging, as everyone is at different stages of their journey. Some people can handle more fruit at first, while others may need to start with less.
A fruitarian breakfast is essential to kickstart the day in the right direction. Starting with some papaya, if possible, or watermelon or a different melon you prefer, is an excellent way to go. Choose only one type of fruit for your fruitarian breakfast to make it easier for your body to digest it. Doing some light exercises before breakfast can jump-start the digestive system.
If you don’t want to do a high water mono meal, you can opt for a fruitarian smoothie. Keeping your ingredients to a minimum, choosing one fruit, and no more than three, is advisable. Be sure to add lots of water to your blender. Some of the best ingredients for smoothies include bananas, mangos, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. You can try some combination of these, and you can’t go wrong.
For lunch, another mono meal, another smoothie, or a salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and/or bell peppers can be a great option. All of these are considered fruits because they all have seeds. Berries, bananas, and apples are excellent snack options, and another smoothie can also work, as long as you are eating fruit.
Most fruitarians tend to enjoy a salad for dinner, but fruit at night is also an option if it isn’t too cold or late in the evening. Orange juice or a bunch of grapes can be quite comforting. If you’re moving too much lymph, doing a salad at night can help you feel more comfortable while you sleep. Ensure you have your salad two or three hours before bedtime to allow enough time to break down all that cellulose and fiber.
All fruits are good to lose weight, but some are better than others. The fruits that will help you lose more weight are the ones that will help you detox faster. Astringent fruits, such as lemons, oranges, some grapes, kiwis, pineapples, and grapefruit, are the most detoxifying. They help break up mucus and fatty substances in the body, and they get the lymph moving down the lymphatic system. Be careful with these fruits and remember not to detox too fast, or you may crash. Eating more sweet fruits like bananas, avocados, figs, and the like can help slow things down.
