Fruitarian muscle building isn’t as simple as it sounds. Fruitarian bodybuilding requires not only proper nutrition but also the right amount of exercises and consistency.
When I first got into fruitarian bodybuilding I thought it was all going to be a piece of cake (fruitarian cake, of course). I thought that all I needed to do was keep my training routine and simply switch my caloric intake to include more fruits.
During the first weeks of doing this the results where outstanding. I was able to train twice as hard and twice as much as I had been training before my transition to fruitarianism. I thought muscle building with a fruitarian diet would be easy. Unfortunately, there where a few things that I had not foreseen.
Fruitarian Detox
After two weeks on the fruitarian diet I began to experience a mild itch on my legs. Two weeks later the itching turned into massive rash all over my lower body. It was unbearable. I was very confused, I wondered if it could be a reaction to all the fructose (sugar) I was in-taking. Perhaps I was allergic to some fruit that I was unaware of…? I didn’t know what to do.
I began to educate myself on the topic of detoxification and came across several sources and books. The most important detox books I found are The Detox Mono Diet, The Detox Miracle Sourcebook, and The Grape Cure.
It took me some time to understand what I was going through. The human body is an immensely complicated organism but detoxification is, at it’s core, very simple.
This process of detoxification and intense discomfort forced me to slow down and even stop my training. My body was burning and for a whole month I was unable to work or train. I became desperate and the trauma caused by the detox rolled over after I began to feel better. It was probably one of the most intense experiences of my life.
There is much more I can say about the fruitarian detox. Some articles I recommend on this topic are how to cope with a fruitarian detox, the best video on how to do a fruitarian detox and fruitarian detox with grape juice fast. We also have an article related to dry fasting and detoxification.
Fruitarian Muscle Building
The fruitarian bodybuilder lifestyle starts on your plate and ends on the floor. By floor I mean the training floor.
Fruitarian bodybuilders include natural bodybuilders, runners, cyclists, yogis and all sorts of a fruitarian athletes. These individuals succeed, not only through their fruitarian diet, but through training as well. The fruitarian diet alone will not lead to muscle building. Training is of the essence.
This may seem obvious to most but some people expect to get big on a fruitarian diet without putting the hours of training. Training is the most important requirement to build muscle. The fruitarian diet helps by providing energy and building blocks for muscle but it is training that forces muscle to grow.
How to Balance Fruitarian Muscle Building with Detox Symptoms
Depending on how you approach the practice of fruitarian bodybuilding you will get different results.
From my experience I can testify that jumping into fruitarianism 100% from scratch is not the easiest approach. It may be the fastest, for some, but it requires a strong capacity to adapt. It is best, in my opinion, to delve into fruitarianism slowly and, if possible, to take it in with layers. If you are still eating meat, let go of meet first. Once you become a vegetarian you can work into eating a vegan diet. After you are comfortable with your vegan diet you can start to eat raw. After you are set on this new lifestyle you can start to increase your intake of fruits until you may eventually transition to a 100% fruitarian diet.
You do not need to eat 100% fruit to be a fruitarian. My definition of fruitarianism includes everyone who’s diet includes at least 51% fruit, regardless of whether they still consume animal products or not. This is not the most agreed on definition but it is the one I find most fair and inclusive.
That being said, if you find that your detox reaction to the fruitarian diet is too strong and conflicts with your training then take it down a notch. You may need to include more raw vegetables on your diet or perhaps add on some cooked foods.
People have different bodies, different goals and different situations that they find themselves in. The most important thing is to enjoy and appreciate the process. Be gentle with yourself, give yourself time and allow your body to adapt to its new circumstances.
We hope this article helps you put on some fruitarian muscle and we look forward to seeing you succeed.
