Fruitarian turns Raw Vegan? – Will I Eat Cooked Food? – Still Transitioning to the Fruitarian Diet

May 24, 2017 Posted by brunotreves Fruitarian, Fruitarianism, Raw Vegan Diet

Yes, I do want to be a fruitarian, but sometimes it is much easier to follow a raw vegan diet. Will I also eat cooked food? I hope not, cooked food, even if it is vegan food, doesn’t make me feel as good as fruit or raw vegetables. I mean, it does make me feel good when I eat it, that is why I eat it, for sensual pleasure, but when it comes to thriving in my body, raw foods are ideal, especially fruit.

On a fruitarian diet I save time cooking, I save time cleaning and I am able to have a better digestion and have more energy. On a fruitarian diet I feel like I am living a more ethical life.

So why did I choose to buy raw vegetables and food to cook? Truth is that I’ve had some bad experiences buying fruit in Ecuador and I don’t want to feel uncomfortable again. Last time I ran out of fruit I didn’t have anything to eat and that sucked. I ended up buying some rice and eating that for three days, it was horrible, I thought it would be a good experience but I ended up getting sick from it. That is why this time I am thinking ahead.

Trust me, no one wants to become a fruitarian more than I do, but no one has struggled with it more than I have. I moved twice in search of the optimal place to live a fruitarian lifestyle and both times I had major issues with the place I chose, first Hawaii, then Vilcabamba. Of course, I could have found my way around those challenges or simply learned to live with them, but I decided to move on to live a simpler life.

This is why I came to Cuenca, to live a simple life, of course, there are simpler lives than this, but this is simple enough for me. Here I have fruit available and much closer to home. Still, I don’t know what type of quality I will be getting, so I got some extra stuff just in case, some raw vegetables, a bit of rice, pasta and legumes to save just in case.

Spoiler alert, I will be glad to tell you I only ended up eating one of those small bags of pasta, the rest is tucked away and I am not in the mood to eat it.

Maybe I need to learn how to have more discipline, or maybe I need to learn how to say no to temptations.

The bottom line is that I am clearly still transitioning to the fruitarian diet and eating raw foods once in a while doesn’t seem so bad, even eating cooked foods once in a while doesn’t seem so bad either, as long as I continue to get back on the fruitarian path.
