It is 6 a.m. and I just finished writing my fruitarian blog for Day 16. I still have half an hour until my yoga class so I decided to write a bit of this blog before it is time to go. This fruitarian website is going places! =D
Moving to another Hut in Kanekiki
Last night I got some much needed rest but didn’t sleep so well due to some weird dreams and the sounds and vibration of my roommate’s footsteps. I swear it feels like he has elephant feet! I hope today I don’t forget to ask Barb to place me in another hut.
I know there is a hut available towards the far end of the property. It is called the Rainbow Hut and it is currently empty. The only issue with it is that it seems to be how far it is from everything else. It may be a bit scary and inconvenient but it is worth giving it a try.
Setting myself for Intermittent Fasting
Another intention I have for today is to fast and not eat anything until 12 p.m. I have noticed that the less I eat in the mornings the better I feel. I also plan on finishing my dinner before 6 p.m., ideally 5.
This approach will ensure that I will be going to bed with an empty stomach and it will be harder for me to get tempted with having big meals with everyone else. It would also be a good practice for me to not eat while others are eating, even if they are eating raw vegan meals.
Some people would consider this “Intermittent Fasting”. Intermittent Fasting, also known as I.F. is an eating technique that restricts food intake for several hours every day. We all fast during our sleep, that is why the first meal of the day is called break-fast.
Intermittent Fasting allows us to spend less energy on digestion throughout the day, giving the body longer periods of rest which can serve it to spend more energy on healing, detoxification and regeneration of tissues, organs and bodily systems.
Yoga Classes and Work at Kanekiki
Today’s class was a free for all with Destiny, she did her own thing, I did my own thing. Bitzy and Andy couldn’t show up, Andy is feeling a bit sick and Bitzy got back late last night after driving Elisa to the airport in Kona.
Our workday felt a bit unproductive, we harvested some fruit but not much. We also worked with the chip and shredder machine getting rid of a bunch of branches that are laying all over the property. So far that has been my least favorite job, it is boring and the environment is very noisy.

Working on my Book about the Fruitarian Diet
After my first two hours I had a glass of orange juice and sat down to work on my book about the fruitarian diet. It is looking great! I am super excited! I am working to include as much as I can about the fruitarian diet and share my experience and advice without preaching too much. I want to respects other people’s beliefs while I politely share mine.
I took a break around noon to eat some fruit. The kitchen crew had prepared a surprise fruitarian lunch for us. On the table there was a mixture of mamey sapote pie, bananas and the always popular jackfruit. It was sweet to share a fruitarian meal with everyone. One could think that eating fruit every day gets boring but it is actually quite enjoyable after you get used to it.
As soon as we finished munching we washed our plates and got ready to leave. Most of the crew was heading to Hilo to watch a movie at the theater. I rode along to get dropped off and work at the Sweet Cane Café, it is the best place around for Wi-Fi. They also have some delicious smoothies. I ended up getting a banana-vanilla smoothie and a large cup of cane juice. I drank both of them in no time.
I pretty much worked on my fruitarian book for four hours non-stop. I am loving the process and I am satisfied with all that I have to say. I already have 30+ questions to answer and 6 pages full of text. This is only from a few days of work! Just imagine what I will have ready in a month!

Falling in Love and Crashing Fast
The only distraction I had during my time working at Sweet Cane was a cute lady sitting on the table right next to mine. She was working on her computer while her giant lab dog laid on the floor. It took me a while to gather the courage to talk to her and once I did we broke into an awesome conversation.
Everything was going well until her boyfriend arrived. I was a little heartbroken but at least I got to talk to her. She even came to my table later to say goodbye and gave me her phone number so we could stay in touch. She mentioned wanting to visit the volcano with a group of friends and she was also interested in visiting the farm. I guess we can be friends. J
Jack Fruit Rain
I ended up catching a ride back with Jo and Julia. I was glad I got to spend some time with them since they are two of the girls at Kanekiki I haven’t spent much time with. They are both really sweet and nice.
Jo ended up dropping us off at the gate and then left to meet with a friend. Julia and I walked up the drive way together and guess what?… WE FOUND ANOTHER JACK FRUIT LAYING ON THE FLOOR! =D
You may recall I found a jack fruit Tuesday night coming back from my visit to the neighboring farm. I couldn’t believe there was another one laying there, almost in the same place! I have no idea where they are coming from, I could swear there are no jack fruit trees on that part of the farm. We are blessed.

Sky Full of Stars
Upon arrival I noticed that I had left this morning’s coconut on the kitchen counter. Julia wanted to have some coconut meet so we headed over the coconut bar and opened it up. I was surprised to see how skillful I have become with the machete. Although I am nowhere near an expert, I am proud to say I was able to get all the meat out of that coconut with just a little bit of light.
I talked to Julia for 20 minutes and then she headed off to bed. I placed the rest of my coconut meat on a cooler and headed upstairs to get some work done.
A few minutes later Ray came over and we decided to go on a walk. The stars were looking AMAZING. We walked on the dark, all the way out of the property and headed north. We used the stars to guide our way and from time to time we turned on our phone lights to see the road.
It was a sweet walk, I got to share some of my thoughts with Ray and she gave me some valuable feedback. We were gone for 30 minutes or so. Now I am back in the community room, finishing up this blog.
Tomorrow is our free day which means no work. I will probably work on my fruitarian book anyways since I am enjoying it so much. I will also be going out for my first bike ride, I got my bike today and it is all set and ready for a spin. Ray may be joining me too. I look forward to telling you all about it.
Thanks for reading about my fruitarian adventures! =D
Wishing you well,
