Give Fruit a Chance
The main reason for these claims against fruit is that people confuse the sugars in fruit, with the sugars in high fructose corn syrup and other highly processed sugars. These two types of sugars are very different.
The sugars in fruit are naturally occurring and perfectly balanced by nature. They are created by plants with the purpose of reproduction. When mature, these plants turn their flowers into fruit, which contain one, or multiple seeds. The sugars in the fruit provide those seeds with enough energy to grow and mature into an adult plant. Those same sugars are healthy enough to attract animals and humans who consume the fruit, and spread its seeds along with fertilizing manure (also known as poop). This is part of the plant’s natural life cycle. It allows each plant to spread its offspring and increase the territory that species covers, increasing its chance of survival.
On the other hand, high-fructose-corn-syrup, processed sugars, and man-made derivatives, need a complex process of refinement. This process turns natural ingredients into toxic chemicals that cause major disturbances in the human body.
It’s disappointing to see that even doctors and nutritionists tend to confuse fruit sugars with processed sugars. This is one reason why they end up misleading their patients to believe they should avoid fruit, when it might be exactly what they need most.
