These fruitarian diet detox symptoms are driving me crazy. It is 3 a.m. and I cannot sleep. I went to bed at 10 p.m. and woke up at midnight, my legs itching like never before. I had the same experience last night, it seems like it is getting worse. I certainly had not seen this coming, I hope these detox symptoms end soon, they are driving me crazy.
A month ago I chose to delve into a fruitarian diet. Part of me has been doing it for health, another part has been doing it for performance, and another part is doing it for ethical and environmental reasons. The first few days went pretty smooth, I was feeling lighter, my digestion was smooth and all signs of anxiety and depression had magically banished. I felt like I had hit the jackpot with this fruitarian diet.
Then reality began to settle in. It began with a mild itch at the base of my pelvis, it was a strange sensation that I had never experienced before, I did not know where it was coming from so I ignored it for a couple of days. Then the itch began to cover my inner thighs, and then my whole upper legs, eventually it moved also down my legs, and little red dots began to spread all around. The itching was getting more and more intense, I tried brushing it off (literally) with a dry skin brush, it helps to keep the discomfort at bay momentarily, but it certainly does not solve the issue at all.
After the first week I began to wonder if I was having an allergic reaction to the fruitarian diet. Perhaps it was all the mangoes I was eating, or maybe it was the papaya, or the kiwis… I called my dermatologist and scheduled a time to have an office visit, unfortunately (or fortunately), he is booked until a month into the future but to be honest, I don’t think he could help. I am certain that I do not have any allergies to any fruit, what I am going through is a healing crisis, also known as a detox reaction.
I know this because I have never had any allergies to anything, certainly not to any fruits. I had mangoes, papayas, kiwis and oranges before, they never caused any type of rash or itching whatsoever. It could be that the quantity that I am in taking now is much larger than I have ever consumed, but I still don’t think that this is the case. I could try to solve the problem by eliminating all fruit from my diet, wait until the rash goes away, and then introduce different types of fruit back into my diet, one by one, until I find out which one gives me a rash. It sounds like a fairly scientific approach, but there could be too many additional factors contributing to the results that I don’t think it is worth the trouble.
My current understanding of the issue, based on what I have learned throughout my life in regards to diets, detox and the human body; plus what I have learned lately from Dr. Robert Morse’s approach to detoxification with a fruitarian diet, is that my bodies is currently going through a very deep detoxification process, which involves movement of deeply stagnant lymph and bacterial overgrowth that has been stuck in my system from many years due to unhealthy diets and behaviors. It seems to be that the fruitarian diet has allowed my system to break down and move the lymph that was stagnant within my organs and vessels. Unfortunately, my filtering and eliminatory organs, particularly the kidneys, have not been able to keep up with the process.
This is why I finally made the decision to open up a small window of flexibility within my fruitarian diet to allow for a small intake of herbs, which I will be purchasing from Dr. Robert Morse’s Health Club online. I understand that the use of herbs goes against the ethical principles of the strict fruitarian diet that I am trying to follow, but the discomfort and potential health hazards are so large that I find it impossible to continue without addressing this issue.
I just ordered four different bottles, three formulas for strengthening the kidneys and bladder, and one formula for taking care of parasites. The whole order costed $100, plus $16 for shipping. I could have gotten just two formulas for the kidneys and bladder, but I wasn’t 100% sure which ones I needed and I rather not have to wait for the right formula to arrive. This itching is so bad I can’t sleep and the extra $25 that I am spending on an additional formula are well worth the days that I could be saving myself from more pain and discomfort.
There are other things I can do to relieve the itching on my legs. The most basic thing that I have found to help is to get distracted, for example, right now, as I type this, I barely feel any itching. When I practice yoga I do not feel any itching either, but practicing yoga during the day seems to make the itching worse at night. I assume this is because during my yoga practice I am breaking down and moving lymph through my system but it is getting stuck unable to enter my kidneys and thus it is being forced out through the skin. One of the logical reasons for this explanation is that the itch and red lumps are mainly situated on my upper legs, where we find some of the largest network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes in my body, very close to my kidneys.
By doing some research I learned that some physical results of a backed up lymphatic system include but are not limited to: acne, boils, cysts, tumors, dandruff, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema and fibrocystic breasts. It seems to be that issues appear in the skin if the kidneys are not adequately eliminating cellular wastes, the reason for this is that the skin is the body’s third kidney, an elimination organ. Again, it looks like the fruitarian diet has been helping me move my lymph and remove waste from my cells but my kidneys are slow on the elimination side of the process and so my skin has been forced to pick up the slack by eliminating toxicity through its pores, which has caused this itchy rash.
The movement of lymph unclogs the body and allows for more efficient lymphatic flow through the tissues. This process allows the body to dissolve stones, calcifications, cysts and plaqued lipids. Increasing the movement of lymph flow allows for less toxins in the interstitial fluid which makes it easier for nutrients to be delivered into the cells which leads to an increased ability for the body to heal itself.
To summarize this article, I will say that overall I think my detoxification process on a fruitarian diet is going very well. Had I known better, I probably would have started by cleaning up my kidneys before starting to detoxify with the fruitarian diet. On the other hand, I now know that if I had not experimented with the fruitarian diet, I may have never realized that my kidneys needed help filtering lymph.
I understand that detoxification can be an uncomfortable process and I am willing to go through it because I know the remedy is better than the sickness. I want to get rid of all the toxins in my body so I can experience who I truly am and what I am capable of. As soon as I receive my herbs and start to see positive effects (and my rash going away) I will get back to the fruitarian diet with full force. I am sure that once I am clean and toxins-free my body will become much more efficient at re-building itself, making it easier for me to become the fruitarian bodybuilder I aim to be.
