Today is a great day to be a fruitarian bodybuilder at the Kanekiki Farm.
Easy Morning at Kanekiki
I woke up around 7 a.m. and decided to skip the morning meeting which I wasn’t required to attend. Instead, I worked on uploading yesterday’s blog, which I couldn’t upload at night because the internet was too slow.
Half way through my work Karen approached me to talk about the aquaponics farm. We brainstormed some ideas on how we could manage the operation and make money and so far it looks like it is a project likely to happen. It is crazy to see how fast things are moving along.
A few minutes later one of the lead coordinators invited me to do my orientation. We walked around the Kanekiki farm and got introduced to the kitchen, showers and compostable toilet or as I like to call it “The Squatting Throne”. We walked around the fruit trees and checked out the green house. We also got a preview of all the good places to check out around the area such as warm ponds, drum circles and delicious vegan restaurants nearby.
Munching and Talking
Following our orientation I picked some fruit from the community stash and took a seat to eat for a bit. I talked to Sam, who is working on Kanekiki’s Raw Vegan Recipe Book. I also tried some of the recipes she had prepare, they were delicious.
Now I am sitting in the community room. Listening to my friends talk about some famous YouTubers such as Alyce from Raw Alignment, Ted Carr from Fruit Living, Vegan Gains and some others. One of the girls here knows how to work Adobe Premier and hopefully she will help me edit the 100+ videos I have been shooting over the last three months. I am excited to bring those to you.
Fruitarian Bodybuilding Meets Its Match
I had a fairly productive day. I was finally able to upload all of the blogs I had pending and got to a chance to “pop my cherry” at Kanekiki’s weight room. The space isn’t as nice as I was hoping but it has enough material to work on for a few months.
To be honest, my personal preparation was worse than the gym’s. I struggled with 10 pushups and benching 100 lbs wasn’t easy. The reason being that I have barely exercised over the past two month. I am not proud of it but it is a good set up for the Fruitarian Bodybuilder experiment. This way I will be able to show that anyone can gain weight with a fruitarian diet, regardless of where they start.
Of course, the experience was a little frustrating, as I shared on my first blog of these fruitarian bodybuilder series, I have been an athlete throughout most of my life. To struggle with some pushups is more than embarrassing.
A Relaxing Evening at the Kanekiki Farm
After my workout I rinsed off on the outside showers, butt naked J . I felt free and quite natural. I will definitely be enjoying that routine. After putting some clothes on I ate a handful of papayas and went back to work on my computer. There is much I needed to catch up.
I am currently finishing up this blog, while some of the younger kids from our community watch a movie. It is almost 7 pm and I will probably be going to bed soon.
Despite the beautiful space and lovely company, I have been feeling a little down lately. I don’t know if it is the lack of food I have been eating (I haven’t gone to the market yet), the lack of sleep I experienced last week, or some other need that I haven’t realized yet. Perhaps it is a simple period of adaptation, or the fact that it has been raining non-stop since I arrived here and haven’t gotten a single minute of sunshine on my skin.
Regardless of all that I stay positive and I look forward to tomorrow. I am sure I will have another great day.
